Abstract

This publication presents selected fragments of a detailed thematic and motif-based commentary on Daniil Kharms’s play The Fall or the Knowledge of Good and Evil: Didaskalia (1934) and shows the work’s profound connections with the twelfth-century mystery play Le Jeu d’Adam (Ordo representacionis Ade), the Russian rayoshnik verse tradition, and occult literature that formed a significant part of Kharms’s reading.
